The site of the Waipara Wine Village and Day Spa has seen plenty of activity over the last few months with local contractors Clements Drilling on site establishing a water bore. The intended Well will provide all of the water requirements for the resort as well as providing an improved water supply to the Waipara township.
Water is a critical element in any development – and this is especially so in Waipara. Over the last few months we have found good supplies at various depths however we have now reached what we believe to be a very good source at 210 metres. Over the next few weeks flow tests will be carried out to confirm that the supply is capable of providing all of the requirements for both the Waipara Wine Village & Day Spa and the local Waipara town supply. One of the benefits of drilling so deep (apart from finding the necessary flows) is that we are unlikely to cause any adverse effects to other wells in the region.
Once all testing and consenting is complete we will be passing the Well over to the Hurunui District Council. The Well will be connected to the existing town supply both to the North and to the South, improving the quality and reliability of the Waipara township water supply.

As a Waipara resident it's great to see Latitude being open and honest about what they're up to. Given the history of the project there is fair degree of scepticism in the community and good communication goes some way to curing that.
Earth moving has started and concrete will be being poured soon.Lattitude Group have revamped the Waipara Valley Map which sits outside the Corner cupboard. So the area heaves a sigh of relief and wishes Lattitude a trouble free development.
